Ultimately though, we'll just have to keep playing the waiting game until NetherRealm Studios is ready to make the big reveal.This weekend, starting September 16, 2023, marks the celebration of a transcendent comic book icon known by a variety of monikers. It'll still be some time before we learn concrete details about NetherRealm Studios' next project, but the Riddler feels like a likely candidate if they really do go the Injustice 3 route. Perhaps the Riddler will have some sort of unique mix up system that opponents will need to solve to avoid getting hit. If there's a way to force the opponent into solving some sort of puzzle without interfering with the fighting game formula too much, I can imagine NetherRealm Studios going this route. Similar to how the Joker plays in Mortal Kombat 11, this will probably make the Riddler into an exceptionally strong footsies fighter. The Riddler will likely make use of his cane with the question mark symbol at the end. Needless to say, it doesn't seem like NetherRealm Studios is overly concerned about oversaturating Injustice rosters with Batman reps.Īlthough the Riddler isn't necessarily known for being an exceptional fighter that can go toe to toe with Batman himself, it isn't as though Poison Ivy was excluded from Injustice 2 when she typically uses plants to fight in lieu of throwing punches and kicks. 7 out of 30 and 9 out of 38 characters in Injustice and Injustice 2 respectively hailed from the Batman mythos. Notably, Batman characters appeared frequently in both Injustice titles' rosters. He'll either be designed similarly to how he is in the upcoming The Batman movie, or he'll have an alternate costume that references this appearance. Although the first Suicide Squad movie released a year prior to Injustice 2, D.C. It might seem a bit ridiculous to assume that this was also a promotion tactic for Man of Steel, but there were some that really did believe this to be the case.Īs for Injustice 2, there was also this feeling that Deadshot and Enchantress only became playable as a result of the Suicide Squad movie. Despite Superman clearly being too strong, NetherRealm Studios seemingly refused to nerf Superman for a time into the game's lifespan. Some that actively played Injustice back when it was first released would probably tell you that Superman was intentionally designed to be overpowered also as a way to promote Man of Steel. In what was clearly an attempt to promote the movie, Zod was revealed to be a DLC character in Injustice.
